A decentralized AI education platform powered by Ethereum, developed at UNILAB to transform learning and sustainable development in Brazil and beyond.
Zaeon is an innovative decentralized society model implemented on the Ethereum network that leverages artificial intelligence and blockchain technology to revolutionize education, research, and sustainable development. Based at the University for International Integration of the Afro-Brazilian Lusophony (UNILAB), our project aims to bridge technological gaps while promoting inclusivity, transparency, and collaborative learning.
Through our platform, we're creating a new paradigm where AI teachers interact with students, researchers develop cutting-edge applications, and communities benefit from decentralized knowledge sharing. Our mission is to democratize access to quality education and technological resources, particularly in underserved regions.
The University for International Integration of the Afro-Brazilian Lusophony (UNILAB) is a federal public university linked to the Ministry of Education of Brazil. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Redenção, Ceará, it was established to expand access to higher education while promoting international cooperation, particularly among member states of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), including Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal, and others.
UNILAB has a strong institutional mission focused on intercultural education, democracy, and scientific cooperation. Its campuses bring together Brazilian and international students and faculty, fostering a truly global academic environment. The university operates across four campuses—three in Northeast Brazil and one in the state of Bahia—serving both urban and rural populations within strategic regions for sustainable development.

The Institute of Engineering and Sustainable Development (IEDS), where the Zaeon project will be based, offers undergraduate programs in Computer Engineering, Energy Engineering, and a distance-learning degree in Computer Science, as well as a graduate program (MSc) in Energy and Environment. A new graduate program in Computer Engineering and Nanotechnology is set to launch in 2026.
The project will be implemented across three campuses in the Maciço de Baturité region, a semi-arid area with over 275,000 inhabitants across 14 municipalities. These communities face challenges in access to technology, infrastructure, and economic development—making them an ideal testbed for a decentralized, value-driven educational platform like Zaeon.
With a strong academic structure, an inclusive mission, and technical laboratories across the Auroras and Palmares campuses, UNILAB provides a fertile ground for deploying Ethereum-based innovations that serve public institutions, promote regenerative education, and bridge global collaboration.
Zaeon is led by a multidisciplinary team of researchers and experts dedicated to integrating blockchain and AI technologies for social impact.
